JOHOR BARU: A state Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) senior officer has been remanded for seven days over allegations of accepting a RM30,000 bribe.

Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias allowed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) application on Wednesday for the 37-year-old department deputy assistant director to be held for a week.

The suspect was taken to the magistrate's court here by MACC officers at around 1.55pm.

He was arrested by MACC officers at a hotel around here at around 2.40pm on Tuesday (Oct 31) for allegedly requesting the sum from a project manager of a petroleum engineering company.

During a raid conducted at the suspect's house, the investigation team also found RM18,505 in cash hidden underneath the stairs and in the bedroom.

The team also seized several documents related to the project.
