ALOR STAR: A Road Transport Department (RTD) clerk was charged at a Sessions Court here with four counts of falsifying documents to register four luxury cars at the RTD office in Kulim last year.

Nurul Hanim Abu Bakar, 32, from Selama, Perak claimed trial to the charges before judge Zainol Rashid Hussein for the offences allegedly committed on Feb 16, Jun 1, Jun 21, and Jun 30, 2016.

The four luxury cars were Mitsubishi Grandis 2.4L(A), Toyota Estima 2.4L(A), Toyota Wish 1.8L(A) and Toyota Previa 2.4L(A).

She allegedly submitted six documents with false information about the cars with the intention to cheat her principal into believing that the documents were genuine.

She was charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act (MACC) 2009 which carries a maximum of 20 years jail and fine not less than five times the value of the defective materials or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

At the same court, shop assistant Nik Hazrihairi Nik Kassim, 34, claimed trial to four counts of submitting the false documents to Nurul Hanim for the same intention to cheat her principal into believing the documents were genuine.

He was charged with committing the offence on the same date and locations under Section 18 of the same Act.

Zainol Rashid set bail at RM10,000 for each of the charges for both of them and fixed April 27 to mention the case.
